We encourage entrepreneurial spirit, providing the freedom to bring new ideas to the table, to take risks and to view mistakes as opportunities for growth. Our commitment to excellence drives meaningful change and we see every challenge as an opportunity to improve.
The joy we find in our work creates a positive and engaging atmosphere for all, making Gebr. Heinemann a unique and inspiring place to be part of.
We stand for openness, respect, acceptance and believe diversity is what makes the world interesting and enriching. Our corporate culture embraces diversity as an asset, equity as a necessity and inclusion as a strength. That’s why we welcome employees regardless of characteristics such as age, nationality, worldview, social background, physical and mental abilities, gender identity and sexual orientation.
To take a holistic and binding approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), we signed the Diversity Charter in 2023. Additionally, we developed a global DE&I policy to implement our strategy with concrete measures.
As part of our Global Sustainability Strategy 2030, we have set ambitious goals to drive meaningful change in the global travel retail industry. We are aware of our responsibility and are committed to implementing measures in a sustainable and responsible manner through the four pillars of our strategy: Environment, Social, Governance and Responsible Value Chain. This comprehensive approach is further reinforced by our participation in initiatives such as the UN Global Compact, the Science Based Targets and the Diversity Charter.
Your learning journey starts the day you join us and we believe that our success is driven by the growth and development of our employees. That is why we are committed to offering the right development opportunities for you to thrive and achieve your career goals.
Our journey began in Hamburg in 1879. Brothers Carl Friedrich Eduard Heinemann and Heinrich Christian Carl Heinemann founded the company Gebr. Heinemann to supply ship outfitters with duty- and tax-free goods. The company grew rapidly, but also had to overcome some setbacks. In 1910, a major fire destroyed valuable stocks. In 1943, the warehouse at Sandtorkai was completely destroyed in the Hamburg firestorm. And in 1962, the great storm surge rendered large parts of the stocks unusable. But all these setbacks failed to curb our passion for retail and for happy customers.
